NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife Jill Present Their Inspirational Story at Christ Community Church in St. Charles

The Kellys spoke at the church's WOW Weekend about how their faith pulled them through the loss of their son and motivated them to create a foundation in his name.

As part of the WOW Weekend guest speaker series, former NFL star Jim Kelly and his wife, Jill, participated in three worship services Feb. 26-27 at , 37W100 Bolcum Rd. in St. Charles.

The Kellys discussed how their Christianity helped them through the death of their son, Hunter, who had globoid-cell leukodystrophy, also known as Krabbe disease, a genetic nervous system defect that deprives the body of a substance vital to protecting nerve fibers. Their faith led them to establish Hunter’s Hope Foundation, which boosts awareness of the disease and the importance of screening infants for it and other illnesses.

Jill Kelly has written a book titled Without a Word: How a Boy’s Unspoken Love Changed Everything about Hunter’s life, his death and how she and her husband, who is an NFL Hall of Fame member, gained purpose from their loss.
