St. Charles Arts Council Seeking Volunteers for Various Tasks

Newly formed SCAC is working toward presenting an all-city, all-arts festival in 2012.

The newly formed St. Charles Arts Council is seeking volunteers to help with its mission of promoting the arts and cultural activities in St. Charles for the mutual benefit of the arts and the community.

Volunteers are being sought to help with a variety of programs, events, and special projects of the SCAC, which is operated completely by volunteers. Those wishing to help can volunteer on an on-call basis, one or two hours per week, or devote much time as they want to the organization.

Assistance is being sought for the following volunteer positions, including artist and arts business finder, pop-up gallery organizer/worker, entertainment coordinator, freelance videographer, administrative assistant, office worker bee, event committee members, art curator and grant writer, among others.

Volunteers also will be needed for a city-wide all-arts festival being organized by the SCAC for 2012. The festival is expected to involve cultural and performing arts performances, as well as graphic and decorative arts.

The SCAC hopes to help develop the arts as an economic engine for the city of St. Charles through joining forces with other organizations and by becoming the go-to resource for information and assistance regarding the arts. It plans to raise funds primarily through fee-based activities, including one major partnership event. The long-term goal is to promote St. Charles toward becoming a nationally known arts community and market.

Those interested in volunteering can email StCharlesArtsCouncil@gmail.com, call 630-443-3794 or send an information request to St. Charles Arts Council, 2 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL, 60174.
