St. Charles Gas Prices Fall; Multiple Local Construction Projects Underway

Also, some St. Charles residents should be aware of ongoing neighborhood utility work.

Drivers could see delays due to construction on Kirk Road for the next couple of weeks. Also, road work will continue along North Fifth Avenue (Route 25) on the St. Charles and Elgin border. 

  • A major road repair project starts Wednesday on Kirk Road from East State Street to East Main Street (Routes 38 to 64). Temporary lane closures will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. With weather permitting, the Kane County Division of Transportation anticipates that roadwork will finished on Friday, Aug. 19. 
  • Utility work will continue on Indiana Street in St. Charles. Residents are asked to follow all posted parking restrictions and expect minor traffic delays. 
  • Minor utility work is also scheduled to start on Stirrup Cup Court and South 10th Avenue between South and Adams avenues in St. Charles. Residents affected by this work were sent notification letters and will continue to be updated during the project. 
  • Road work will continue on Route 31, from south of McLean Boulevard to south of Sterns Road in South Elgin. Motorists should expect lane closures and are asked to be careful in work zones.

St. Charles drivers don't have to look far for the lowest gas price today. Prices seem to be holding steady around $3.91 at most stations around town, which is a dip from last week's low of $3.93. Gas prices are provided by GasBuddy.com as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
