St. Charles North Jazz Workshop Students to Compete in New York City
The 21-student band will participate in the Essentially Ellington event May 12-14.
The St. Charles North High School Jazz Workshop will participate in the 16th annual Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival and Competition set for May 12-14 in New York, NY.
The 21-student, audition-only Jazz Workshop was one of 15 groups chosen from more than 100 bands that applied to participate in the event, which includes opportunities to perform with Wynton Marsalis and the 15-piece Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
A final concert will be at 7:30 p.m. May 14 at Avery Fisher Hall within the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. The festival finale is an awards ceremony that honors outstanding soloists, sections and the top three bands.
