Weather Service: Conditions This Afternoon Could Make for Isolated Tornadoes

Thunderstorms are forecast for today, according to the National Weather Service.

"AT 831 AM ... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM NORTH OF HARVARD TO KINGSTON TO WEST OF TONICA...MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH," according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Tuesday that warns of thunderstorms that could produce isolated tornadoes in the Chicago area, including Kane County.

These thunderstorms could come with heavy rain, winds up to 60 mph, quarter-sized hail and frequent lightening strikes.

The weather service also is predicting showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m. today, in the Tri-City area.

“Additional strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across Northern Illinois late this afternoon and evening and drop southeast across the outlook area,” the outlook warning continues.
