From Bill Page: Cronyism at its best

What a week of news coming out of the County offices! Many thanks to Brenda Schory of the Kane County Chronicle for breaking most of these stories.
First, was  (former) Animal Control Honcho, and political pet of Chrissie Lauzen, Robert Sauceda being given the heave, if not the ho, from his office. He's since resigned, but no one is talking.
Then there was the fantastic job Brenda did on the Jack Cunningham/Jeff Ward mischief concerning the misuse of county resources to aid Jack's re-election campaign, and finally was her story about the outrageous severance package Ward has been given by his buddy Jack.

This is the same Jeff Ward that has scolded one and all with his many, many unpaid Patch screeds. The Jeff Ward who excoriated former County Chairman Karen McConnaughay for her supposed cronyism. The Jeff Ward who on more occasions than I can count held himself out as the one guy who told the truth.

Well, he's also the guy who got himself a job with the county in a manner that smacks of favoritism, who got paid around $50,000 for a job with apparently undefined duties, and who used that job (and taxpayer resources) to work on the re-election of his boss. His separation agreement promises him 12 weeks pay after only holding the job for about 18 months, and incredibly contains the promise not to challenge his unemployment claims, if he makes them.

Far from being the White Knight crusader he likes to project, Ward seems much more like a Chicago ward heeler.

I say enough is enough on all this nonsense. Lauzen pushed Sauceda on us, the county taxpayers. He needs to let us all in on the reason the man was locked out of his office. And he needs to man up about the Sauceda hiring being a political gift, too.

Jack needs to go, pure and simple. This was not some one-off error; it was multiple instances of knowingly using county resources to plot his re-election.

And Ward? Well, first he has a court date to answer a disorderly conduct beef, but after that he should just fade away from shoving his opinions on all of us. Having proven himself the exact political creature he claims to disdain, he has no credibility left
