VNA Healthcare in Aurora is a not-for-profit organization based on the concept that each individual has the right to quality health care, and is to be treated with dignity. VNA helps underprivileged families who are unable to afford healthcare or are uninsured around the Kane county area. The VNA offers services such as Free Pregnancy testing, Free STD testing, Free Contraception and other services. As a contribution to the Community VNA sponsors different programs such as WIC, IBCCP, and Healthy Families. Healthy Families is a voluntary intensive home-visitation program for at risk first time moms in Southern Kane County.  The geographical area served by the program includes St. Charles, Elgin, Geneva, Batavia, North Aurora and Aurora, as well as Bristol, Sugar Grove, and Elburn. Through the Healthy Families program individuals receive weekly home visits from a trained Family Support Worker, providing them with community resources, child development information and the support they need to get off to a good start in parenting. Each donated item helps a first-time mom and their new family, alleviating some of the financial pressure that they are currently struggling with.

The Sensible Threadz’ philosophy is all about maintaining a “Win-Win Community Approach for Everyone.”

During this trying economic time period Sensible Threadz has also assisted its’ customers in saving substantial clothing costs by allowing them to bring in their used private label clothing items that they have and they can either receive cash or a double value in-store credit to apply to other items in the store. Some customers have actually walked out of the store paying absolutely nothing for their items by taking advantage of this in-store concept. The store also carries over 15 different local artisan hand-made and custom made accessory items. This allows members of our community to benefit by having their items viewed locally and gives them an opportunity to have a supplementary income.
