(ST CHARLES) Vero Voce Productions, St. Charles is proudly opening their inaugural season with SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, a rock style musical revue in two acts, by Jason Robert Brown. David Rodriguez makes his directing debut at Vero Voce with SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD. Rodriguez and Music Director, Dawn Harkins are thrilled to kick off the 2013-14 Season with such an exciting musical production. Composer, Jason Robert Brown says, "It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back." These are the stories and characters of today, the SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD.

The audience is transported from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue to meet a startling array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basket-ball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage.

With a small, powerhouse cast and a driving, exquisitely crafted score running the gamut of today's popular music, SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD is a great way to bring the next generation into the theatre. Vero Voce features the talents of Alex Adams (St. Charles), Kelly Barabasz (Batavia), Luke Donia (Chicago), Sarah Heylmun (Batavia), Haleigh Hutchinson (Geneva), Katelyn Jassoy (St. Charles), Steven Lugovsky (Barrington), Hal Leonard finalist Lauren Nicole (St. Charles), and Jacqueline Petzel (Carpentersville). Featured musicians are Richard Trost (South Elgin) piano, David Cramer (Lake Villa), bass guitar, Daniel Eastwood (DeKalb), drums/percussion.
