Fine Line Creative Arts Center: New Entrance, New Address, Same Great Location!

A successful ribbon cutting event took place at Fine Line on June 21, in celebration of the center’s expanded parking lot and new entrance at 37W570 Bolcum Rd. Fine Line has not moved, but relocated its entrance to be more accessible, easier to find, and to enhance the campus, as a whole.

The “Bricks & Brats Party!” included dinner and an official ribbon cutting, executed by Fine Line’s Director, Lynn Caldwell, and Mark Davoust, Kane County Board Member for District 14.

“I’ve been aware of Fine Line for a long time,” said Davoust. “I’ve had the tour, and I’ve seen things people create here, and it really inspires me.”

Fine Line, which has been at its current location since 1986, has had to limit some of its offerings over the years due to zoning restrictions and insufficient parking. The new entrance, along with zoning modifications, allows the center to offer weekend workshops and accommodate more students, as well.

This project, in the works since 2009, involved the purchase of land from Fine Line neighbor John Thornhill, facilitated through Fine Line board member John Blieszner. It also received support from throughout the community.

“I worked behind the scenes of the new entrance project. Anywhere I could put in a positive word, I was happy to do so,” Davoust said.

You can support this project, be a part of Fine Line history, and to honor someone in your life by purchasing engraved courtyard bricks. Donate towards the remaining construction costs of Fine Line’s new entrance and parking lot with purchase of a custom engraved brick that all can enjoy for years to come. Visit www.fineline.org for details.

Fine Line Creative Arts Center offers numerous adult art classes in textiles, ceramics, 2-D and 3-D art, including jewelry making, metal work, and more.

The Fine Line campus also includes the Kavanagh Gallery, which currently houses the HGA Small Expressions show of unique woven works from around the world. The Dempsey Gallery, located inside the barn, features works of art created by Fine Line members, as well as the adjacent Fine Line Shop, where students can find a wide range of materials and equipment for classes.

Fine Line Creative Arts Center is always open to the public, from 10 am to 5 pm Mondays through Saturdays. Be sure to enter through the new entrance at 37W570 Bolcum Rd.
