Street Closures Set for Saturday's Electric Christmas Parade

The 2013 St. Charles Holiday Homecoming Electric Christmas Parade steps off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. The parade will be held on Main Street (Route 64) begins at 6th Street and ends at 4th Avenue.  The traffic on both, Main Street (Route 64) and 2nd Street (Route 31) will be detoured beginning at 5:15 p.m.

A parking ban will be in effect on the detour route and on Main Street from 3:00 PM until approximately 7:00 PM.  There will also be a parking ban in effect for the parade staging area consisting of:

  • Walnut Street between 3rd and 7th Streets
  • 4th Street between Illinois Street and Main Street
  • 5th Street between Illinois Street and Main Street
  • 6th Street from Cedar Street to Illinois Street.
  • Cedar Street from 7th Street to 5th Street.

The police department is urging the public to exercise caution when driving or attending the parade, as the parade will be held after dark.  Motorists are strongly encouraged to use alternative routes, as traffic delays could be lengthy.  There will be additional Police and Emergency Management personnel assigned to the parade to help ensure public safety.
