Recording-setting temperatures have made it seem more like the beginnings of summer than spring.

How's this for March weather? Start with a snowstorm and then launch into summer.

The record-setting temperatures that you've hopefully been outside enjoying this week are expected to continue today. The National Weather Service is reporting a high near 80 for St. Charles. 

Watch out for some potential showers this afternoon, or maybe even a thunderstorm possible after 4 p.m. The chance for rain is 50 percent, but will rise to 80 percent tonight.

Friday will be a bit milder than the rest of this lovely week. The high will be 69 and the possibility of rain will linger through Friday and Saturday, according to the weather service.

The Kane County Chronicle spoke with a weather expert of the warm and wonderful weather that apparently might not last.

Meteorologist Amy Seeley of the National Weather Service said the current heat wave isn't necessarily an indicator of things to come.

Chicago hadn't had an 80-degree March day since 1990, the Chronicle reports. The record for March stands at 88 degrees (March 29, 1986).
