Bishop Will Officiate Funeral Mass for 'Father Mike'
Mass of Christian Burial for The Rev. Michael Chernetzki will be celebrated Friday at St. Peter Church.
The Rev. Michael W. Chernetzki, priest of the Rockford Diocese, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood. He was born on July 23, 1963, in Oak Park to Donald and Alice (Schweihs) Chernetzki.
Chernetzki was ordained to the priesthood on May 21, 2011, by Bishop Thomas G. Doran at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Rockford. He was assigned as parochial vicar for St. Peter Parish, Geneva.
He is survived by his sisters, Janice Glover of Arizona, Lois (John) Bentley of Serena, Gail (Kenneth) Campbell of South Elgin, Peggy Lynn of Sandwich, and his brother, Joseph John Chernetzki of Downers Grove; special family Paul and Judy Pennock and children, Father Mike, Mark, Kim Miller and Debra Nuxall; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, with The Most Rev. David J. Malloy, D.D., S.T.D., Bishop of Rockford, presiding.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Geneva.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church.
