Derek W. Tomchek, age 32, of Sugar Grove, formerly of St. Charles, died April 10 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva.
He was born June 8, 1979, in Elk Grove Village, the son of William and Evelyn Tomchek. He attended St. Charles North High School, class of 1999.
He served his country in the Illinois Air National Guard, Air Force Security Police and later as a federal law enforcement officer with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

Derek’s competed professionally in MMA. He was a MMA instructor and team captain, owner, and head coach of Team Tomchek MMA.
He is survived by his three children, Madison (9 years old), Chloe (6), and Macklen Tomchek (1); his fiancé, Kelly McCarty of Sugar Grove; mother, Evelyn Tomchek of Middletown, DE; father, William Tomchek of St. Charles; sisters, Danya (Ted) Davis of Middletown, DE and Cara (Jay) Steinmetz of Geneva, IL; paternal grandmother, Helen (née Barron) Tomchek of Newport News, VA; and many other dear family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Macklen Tomchek Memorial Fund at any branch of the BMO Harris Bank for his youngest child.
