More Screenings put Dent in Colon Cancer-CDC reports
Colon Screening rate increase to 80% from 55% in Illinois can save many lives.
Wall Street Journal 3/17/2014 has an article showing that by raising screening from 19% in 2000 to 55% in 2010.This helped reduce deaths from 65,000/yr. to 50,000/yr.
CDC reports 136000 new cases of Colon Cancer every year. Dr.Church of Cleveland Clinic-”Everytime a patient with colon cancer comes to my office,I think,”This didn’t need to happen.Why didn’t this person get colonoscopy 5 years ago?”
Mortality rate is 19.2 per 10,000 in men and 13.3% in women.
We believe that screening should be raised to 95% if not 100%.
That could eliminate 40,000 death per year.
