This Day in History: First Baby Born at White House

Thomas Jefferson didn't need to move up to a bigger house.

On January 17th, 1805 Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson gave birth to the first baby born in the White House.

In researching this, there seems to be some debate as to who was actually first.  But alas, according to whitehouse.gov, the Jefferson's were the first.  This seems a credible source right?

The birth of a new child often times means the family may be needing to move up to some bigger digs.  This was probably not the case back in 1805.  While I can't vouch for the home back in the day, according to whitehouse.gov, the current structure boasts 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and is 6 stories tall.  There are 28 fireplaces and even 3 elevators.

Is your family expecting?  Does your home already feel a little too cramped?  There are homes out there, while not quite as large as the White House, that could ease the strain.  And now is an excellent time to buy a home!
