98 mph Motorcyclist Runs Out of Gas, Caught

St. Charles teen charged after short-lived pursuit.

For the second time in the past month, St. Charles police have arrested a motorcyclist for speeding at more than 40 mph over the speed limit.

Matthew James Fricke, 18, of the 36W200 block of Barton Drive, was charged at 5:36 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, with speeding, 40 mph or more over the limit. He posted his driver’s license and was released pending an Aug. 15, 2013 court appearance.

St. Charles police said Fricke was clocked at 98 in a 45 mph zone at Randall and Red Gate roads. But officers caught up with him — easily, it would appear — within a little more than half a mile. According to police, Fricke was stopped at Middle Creek Road and Randall Roads, after his motorcycle ran out of gas.
