UPDATE: Burnt Food Evacuates Tenants

Update: A St. Charles fire official confirmed that the smoke came from burnt food and that no reported damage was done to the apartment.
and other area fire departments responded to a report of an apartment fire at around 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Scanners said smoke was coming from the back of an apartment at the northeast corner of Dean Street and 12th in St. Charles.

There was a smell of smoke in the air but no signs of smoke coming from the brick building at around 8:15 a.m.
Dean Street was open to through traffic at that time.
