Authorities Seek Man Who Approached Girl Sunday Near Geneva

Man asked girl if she's ever seen a man naked. The incident occurred Sunday and is considered suspicious. Here are the details and a suspect description.

A man approached a 10-year-old girl on Sunday in the Mill Creek subdivision near Geneva and asked her if she had ever seen a grown man naked, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred at about 6:45 p.m. in the area of Dobson and Callighan lanes, according to a release, which state the girl did not know the man.

The man did not exit his car during the incident and left immediately after speaking to the girl, the Sheriff's Office said. She ran to a nearby residence and reported the incident.

The man was driving a black, full-size four-door vehicle with a loud muffler. He is described as a while male in his 30s, with dark shoulder-length hair. He also may have had a goatee and might have been wearing sunglasses, the release states.

Sheriff’s deputies were unable to locate anyone matching the description provided.

Residents are encouraged to call 911 if they see anyone matching this description, and to talk to their children about stranger danger. 

Parents also are encouraged to keep a close eye on their children when they are outside. 

Suspicious Incident Last Year

This is the second reported incident in about 10 months of a man approaching a girl in Mill Creek.

The Sheriff's Office reported a similar incident on Nov. 7, 2011. During that incident, an in a white, four-door pickup. The incident took place on West Burnham Lane, about 2½ miles south of where Sunday's incident took place.

The incidents are similar, but there is no official connection between the two events.
