Blotter: DUI Arrest Follows Crash with Road Median

The following arrest information was supplied by the St. Charles Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Crash into road median

Edgar Ruiz, 26, of 1007 Concord Drive, Island Lake, was arrested for drunken driving on March 15, according to a report. Police responded to the Costco parking lot, 200 N. Randall Rd., after receiving a report about a vehicle involved in a crash with a road median. Police found Ruiz, who said he had been driving the car. Tests for sobriety were conducted, after which Ruiz was arrested. He was cited for driving under the influence and also received two traffic citations.

DUI arrest and trip to the hospital

Allen A. Peruzzato, 29, of 238 Pleasant Dr., Bartlett (last known address), was arrested March 16 for drunken driving, according to a police report. Police reportedly saw a red Honda CR-V speeding and crossing the traffic lines without signalling on East Main Street. An officer conducted a traffic stop, during which he reported smelling alcohol inside the car. The driver, Peruzzato, was asked to submit to tests for sobriety, after which he was arrested. During booking, Peruzzato was transported to the hospital after making statements in front of an officer about taking “a lot of drugs” when released. He was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and given several other traffic citations.
