Blotter: Hooligan Throws Wrenches at House; Vandal Targets Car

The following arrest information was supplied by the St. Charles Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Why wrenches? 

An unknown hooligan threw several wrenches at the side of a Jeanette Avenue house on Nov. 5, according to a report. The homeowner told police she and her husband heard what sounded like an object hitting the side of their house during the night. The next morning, the couple found four wrenches on the ground near their house and several dents in the aluminum siding. The homeowner did not suspect anyone and no arrests were made.

Purse goes missing

A blue and silver Coach purse was reported stolen from an unlocked car parked in the parking lot of X-Sport Fitness, 238 N. Randall Rd., on Nov. 7, according to a police report. The owner told police that she didn’t realize her purse was stolen until she had already driven home. Police reported having no suspects or leads.

Bike stolen

A bike was reported stolen on Nov. 8, according to a police report. The boy’s 18” gold “Nasty”-brand BMX bike was stolen from the 1300 block of South 14th Street. It’s valued at $120.

Thief buys phone cards using someone else's money

A woman told police that her wallet was apparently stolen at Portillo’s, 3895 E. Main St., according to a police report. About $250 was missing from one of her bank accounts. Her debit car reportedly had been used at a Verizon store to buy $250 pre-paid phone cards. A restaurant manager told police that no one had turned in a wallet.

Car targeted for vandalism inside garage

Someone had smashed a window on a car that was in a reportedly locked garage on Nov. 9, according to a police report. The family of the owner of the car told police that someone had slashed the tires on several occasions of the vehicle that week while it was parked in the driveway or street. It was then moved into the garage. One family member said the garage had been locked shut when he left that day. The vandal also flatted four of five tires stored in the garage that were meant to replace the damaged ones on the car. The family members suspect an ex-boyfriend of the car owner was responsible.
