Blotter: Man Stopped For Speeding in St. Charles Faces DUI Charges

The following arrest information was supplied by the St. Charles Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Carol Stream man faces DUI charges

Michael J. Heflin, 23, of 1046 Parkview Dr., Carol Stream, was arrested on Sept. 3 for drunken driving, according to a report. Police had stopped Heflin, who was allegedly going 35 mph in a 25 mph zone in the 100 block of East Main Street. During the stop, an officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from the car. Heflin reportedly told the officer he had five or six beers that night. Tests for intoxication were performed. Heflin was arrested and faces two charges of driving under the influence and was cited for two traffic violations.

Someone burglarized Chevy Trailblazer parked in the 1400 block of Indiana Street, according to a police report. The burglary occurred sometime on Sept. 4 or 5. The SUV was left unlocked and the only items taken were about $2 in change, a $10 plastic necklace and a purse. The purse was found by a neighbor on a nearby driveway. Police discovered a fishing license in the purse that didn’t belong to the owner. They were unsuccessful when they tried to contact the man on the license. No arrests were made.
