That's a lot of recycling

More than 3,500 pounds of cardboard were reported stolen from the Blue Goose Market, located in the 300 block of North Second Street. According to the June 29 report, someone made off with six bails of compressed cardboard, each weighing about 600 pounds and valued at about $40.

This was not the first time these large bails have been reported stolen from the downtown supermarket. Other bails went missing on May 19, June 5 and June 18, according to the report. In all, 20 bails have been stolen.

Blue Goose uses a company to pick up the bails, which requires the use of a flat-bed truck with a claw designed to grab the heavy cardboard.

Police do not have a suspect at this time.
