Coroner: May 28 Train in Geneva Killed St. Charles Man

Walter Hamilton Jr., of St. Charles, was struck and killed by a Union Pacific freight train on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, in Geneva.

A man who was struck and killed by a train in Geneva on Tuesday morning has been identified as a St. Charles man, the Kane County Coroner’s Office told The Courier-News in Elgin.

Walter Hamilton Jr., of St. Charles, was struck by a Union Pacific freight train  on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, near Randall and Keslinger roads about 8:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead at about 10 a.m.,  coroner told The Courier-News.

Hamilton had no identification with him at the time of the incident, and the coroner’s office said he was not identified until Wednesday.

Geneva’s police and fire departments responded to the aincident found Hamilton on the railroad tracks in the 2000 block of Gary Lane, which is east of Randall Road, Patch reported last week. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
