Debit Card Fraud Leads to $4,000 Problem for St. Charles Woman

Here is an item from the St. Charles police blotter.

A 35-year-old woman from St. Charles reported to police on April 12 that someone using her debit card account to make more than $4,000 in purchases, including an Air Canada vacation and for Facebook.com.

According to the report, the woman had contacted a person at Chase Bank to inform them of the fraud. A personal banker told her that the $4,091.70 would be reimbursed.

The woman also told police that the debit account had been cancelled and replaced with a new one.

Reportedly fraudulent transactions made on the account include $2,666.90 for the purchase of a Air Canada Vacation and $29.95 for Winzip Computing. The woman also told police that the debit account number was used on Facebook.
