Downstate Illinois Man Arrested after Theft from St. Charles Home

Here is an item from the city police blotter.

A man from downstate Illinois was arrested on Feb. 27 for allegedly taking a $450 necklace owned by a St. Charles woman.

David Thomas Wessel, Jr., 26, of 31650 S. Smith Rd. in Wilmington, was charged with trespassing and theft of a silver necklace that reportedly belonged to his ex-girlfriend.

According to a police report, the victim alleged that Wessel has sent her numerous text messages asking her to meet him after he had moved away from the area in August 2010. The victim called police on Feb. 27 when she allegedly saw Wessel's car parked in her driveway.

Police found Wessel near the basement door of the victim's home with the necklace in his pocket, according to the report.
