Elmhurst Man Refuses Alcohol-Level Test, Receives DUI Citation Anyway

Here is an item from the St. Charles police blotter.

An Elmhurst man who refused chemical testing was cited for drunken driving by St. Charles police last week.

Casey Thomas Klein, 33, of 135 South York Rd., was cited for DUI and also received a traffic citation on Feb. 26.

According to the report, police observed a car cross road lines in the 1200 block of East Main Street. The driver, who police determined was Klein, told police he had been out with friends at a St. Charles bar and left to drive home. He also told police that he had consumed seven bottles of  beer that night.

Field sobriety tests were conducted and Klein was arrested. At the police station, he refused any chemical tests to determine his blood-alcohol level.
