Fire Damages St. Charles Home

No one was injured in an early morning fire in St. Charles. 

The cause of the fire at 1852 Allen Lane, which was reported at 1:47 a.m. Tuesday, remains under investigation but could be storm-related, according to a city of St. Charles press release. 

A St. Charles Police Department patrol officer spotted the blaze and alerted residents inside who were able to safely get out, according to the news release. 

Firefighters first on the scene found a heavy fire coming from the roof and attic area. It took about 60 minutes to get the blaze under control. 

 The fire caused about $175,000 in damage. 

The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted by the Geneva and Batavia fire departments. The Elburn and Fermilab fire departments provided coverage during the blaze.
