Officials Investigate Cause of Garage Fire

The family was home but no one was injured, authorities say.

The cause of Monday night garage fire north of St. Charles remains under investigation, authorities said Tuesday.

No one was injured when a garage in the 6N900 block of Roosevelt Avenue caught fire, said Chief Greg Benson of the Fox River & Countryside Fire/Rescue District. The cause is being investigated. 

“The family was home but they were not in the garage at the time of the fire,” Benson said.

The garage, which contained carpentry and woodworking equipment, was heavily damaged. Total damage to the structure and contents is estimated at about $40,000.

Firefighters were called at about 7:50 p.m. and had the fire under control by about 8:30 p.m., Benson said.

The Bartlett Fire Department assisted with the call.
