Geneva Police Continue to Investigate Swedish Days Parade Bus Burglary

Geneva police are reviewing camera footage of the city's downtown area as they continue to investigate a burglary that occurred during the Swedish Days parade on June 22, according to the Kane County Chronicle. 

Four purses/bags containing electronic equipment and money were stolen from an unlocked bus, according to a Geneva Police Department press release. Police said the items stolen totaled just over $800, according to Kane County Chronicle. 

The bus was used to transport the South Shore Drill Team to the parade. The burglary occurred between 12:40 and 1:15 p.m. on June 22. 

After dropping off the team at the parade starting point, the bus was driven to the Geneva Train Depot’s south permit lot. At this time, the bus was left unattended and unsecured.

After exiting the bus, the offender left in an unidentified vehicle and proceeded to discard the purses and bags, accruing to the news release. 

The Geneva Police Department is requesting the assistance of anyone who may have witnessed the burglary or noted any suspicious activity during the incident timeframe.
