Police reports: Witnesses say a group of people set a chair on fire at the West Side skate park on April 1.

Here's a blotter item that puts the "fools" in April Fools' Day.

Someone set a chair on fire inside the Geneva Skate Park, 1776 South St. sometime around 5:16 p.m. April 1, Geneva police reports said.

Evidence at the scene seemed to indicate that the burning chair might have been pushed down one of the skate park ramps. Police located a small pile of burned ash and soot residue on the northwest ramp of the skate park.

Another witness later told police she saw a bunch of skateboarders take the chair into the fenced area, and she could see smoke coming from where the chair was.

Police found the chair outside the fenced area on the west side of the park. The exact dollar amount of damage was unknown, but the case was categorized as criminal damage to property less than $300.

Police observed trash on the ground near the garbage bins in the skate park and alcohol bottles in the garbage cans.
