Man Shot, Killed by Sleepy Hollow Police Officers Identified as Buffalo Grove Man

A man who was shot and killed Sunday by Sleepy Hollow police has been identified as Erdenebileg Sambuunyam, 40, of Buffalo Grove, according to a Kane County Coroner's Office press release.

Sambuunyam was holding a knife and attempted to cut two officers before he was shot shortly before noon outside a home in the 1800 block of Maple Lane in Sleepy Hollow, according to the Daily Herald. 

He was pronounced dead at 12:38 p.m. Sunday at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. The cause of death is pending autopsy and toxicology results, coroner’s office officials said.

The Kane County Coroner's Office is awaiting autopsy and toxicology results before determining a cause of death for Sambuunyam, according to the news release. 

When officers arrived at a domestic call Sunday, they found a male injured outside and Sambuunyam who was "was still in pursuit of a female who was already bleeding from the head," according to the Northwest Herald. 

The conditions of those injured during the domestic disturbance was unknown as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the Daily Herald. The Northwest Herald reports the two officers have been put on paid administrative leave

Illinois State Police are investigating the case, according to the news release. 

Sleepy Hollow is a small village of 3,339 residents located about six miles south of Algonquin.

my best guess is that the cause of death would be a gun shot wound I mean come on do we have to waste resources on an autopsy to find that out wasted tax dollars
