Multiple Crashes on Slippery Roads in Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles

Be very careful driving. Several accidents, some with injuries, are reported by Tri-Com Dispatch.

Tri-Com Dispatch around 1 p.m. Monday is full of reports of crashes and slippery road conditions.

In the past 20 minutes, reports have included accidents at:

  • Route 38 and Bricher
  • Randall and Main
  • On Giese Road in Batavia, near Kirk
  • Another accident by Kirk Road and the bicycle bridge in Batavia
  • Accident with injuries at Main and Randall in Batavia
  • Accident with injuries and Dunham and East Main in St. Charles


The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement, calling for drivers to "use extra caution on the roadways this afternoon."

Here's the NWS-Chicago statement:

LIGHT TO OCCASIONALLY MODERATE SNOWFALL OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS COMBINED WITH SOUTHWEST WINDS GUSTING UP TO 25 TO 30 MPH COULD RESULT IN LOCALIZED VISIBILITY DOWN TO A HALF MILE OR LESS AT TIMES. IN ADDITION...COLD TEMPERATURES HAVE ALLOWED FOR A MINOR ACCUMULATION ON SOME ROAD SURFACES...AS WELL AS THE FORMATION OF BLACK ICE. MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE EXTRA CAUTION OUT ON THE ROADWAYS EARLY THIS AFTERNOON...AS ROAD CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO BE ICY AND SLICK IN PARTS OF THE AREA.
