ST. CHARLES

KO Ends Fight Before It Begins: Two Charged

An officer on patrol early Saturday, Nov. 2, in downtown St. Charles came across a group of people arguing when one individual ran up to three others and began pushing. One of the three punched the apparent aggressor in the face, and the man fell to the ground, knocked out cold, police said. Alexander Mathew Springhorn, 24, of the 300 block of Clover Court, Geneva, told police he was protecting his brother when he punched Mark A. Akers, 23, of the 100 block of Swanson Road, Sycamore. Both men were cited with public fighting. Springhorn’s size and display of strength was enough to prompt the officer approaching the ruckus to take no chances — the officer drew a Taser and directed Springhorn to drop to his knees and the onto his stomach, which he did without incident, police said. Springhorn’s size required the use of two pairs of handcuffs to secure him, police said. While Springhorn was taken to the police station, an ambulance took Akers to a Geneva hospital, police said.

Don't Sell Your License Plates With Trailer

A victim told Batavia police he sold a trailer on Craig’s List to someone named “Jake.” The victim forgot to remove his plates from the trailer, so he contacted “Jake,” who offered $100 if the victim would transfer ownership of them. According to the report, the victim then received a letter from the Illinois Tollway for toll violations of $111.25 for five unpaid tolls from the plate.

GENEVA

OMG, What Would YOU Do?

This is an OMG for a couple reasons, and it depends entirely on your point of view. A Geneva woman called the cops when she saw a woman slap a 1-year-old at Portillo’s, according to Batavia police reports. The Aurora mom said the slap was “light” and came after the child bit the grandparent, and the Geneva person was out of line and over-aggressive. Who’s right or wrong? You decide.
