Police Blotter: Alcohol, Talks of Marriage Lead to Domestic Battery Call

SATURDAY, JULY 7

Domestic Battery

St. Charles police responded to a domestic battery call after a man reported he had been assaulted by his girlfriend.

Police arrived to an address in the 700 block of S. 3rd Street and found a man bleeding from a laceration on his face. He informed police that he and his live-in girlfriend had an argument about marriage and children. According to the police report, the man said he told his girlfriend he was tired of arguing about the subject and was going to bed. Moments later he was struck across the face by a blunt object, according to the report.

When officers arrived at the address they were met by the bloodied man. 

In the report, officers noted alcohol on the breath of the male, who told police that the couple had been drinking “a lot.”

According to the report, the woman did not want to speak with police, but then told them she did not strike the man; rather, he struck her and shoved her across the bed.

According to the report, the woman “spoke in circles,” sometimes saying she didn’t know details, but then later giving details.

Although the man said he did not wish to press charges, the woman was taken into custody on domestic battery charges and transported to Kane County Judicial Center for a bond call.

SATURDAY JULY 7

Retail Theft

Loss prevention officers at the Meijer on Randall Road detained 18-year-old Jeremy Michael Moore of Hampshire, Ill. after two unpaid bottles of vodka were taken out of the store. The liquor was valued at $30.

Moore was issued a citation for theft and given a court date of Aug. 8.

Retail Theft

Earlier this week St. Charles police released a June report identifying a St. Charles homeless man, Justin H. Fanslau, in connection with the attempted theft of a six-pack of beer from Butera. Fanslau could not pay the bond and was transported to Kane County Jail to await a bond hearing.

On July 2 Fanslau for criminal trespassing after violating a trespass notice at the Main Street Goodwill store.
