Police Blotter: Fraud, Forgeries Reported in St. Charles

St. Charles Police reports July 15-19

SUNDAY, JULY 15

Credit Card Fraud

A St. Charles resident filed a complaint with police reporting unauthorized use of her debit card.

The complainant was reviewing her statement and noticed a charge of $10.52 from a merchant called All 4 Gamer. Police reported they do not know of a physical site for such a merchant in the area.

After investigating, St. Charles police discovered 130 consumer complaints against the business, according to www.scambook.com. Each complaint is linked to similar debit card deductions.

Forgery

An employee working at Meijer on Randall Road reported a customer attempted to pass a counterfeit $10 bill during a transaction, according to police reports.

St. Charles police were called and spoke to the man who was in possession of the alleged fake note. According to the report the man said he received the $10 bill as change following a transaction at another business.

Police confiscated the bill and turned it over to the U.S. Secret Service.

No charges were filed.

TUESDAY, JUNE 19 – THURSDAY, JUNE 28

Forgery

Five checks from one individual that turned out to have a bogus account number were submitted to Costco, according to police reports. The checks total $591.81.

No arrests have been made, but officers are investigating.

Although the incidents took place in June, they were not reported in the police blotter until July 19.
