Police Blotter: Graffiti, Alcohol Theft and Other Mischief Abound in St. Charles

SATURDAY, JUNE 30

Public Use of a Weapon

St. Charles officers responded to calls of a man brandishing a knife while walking on 7th Avenue.

Officers found a man who matched the description, but he denied having openly carried his folding knife with the blade extended. Officers checked his name in their data base and found no warrants. He was released without any charges.

FRIDAY, JUNE 22 – SUNDAY, JUNE 24

Criminal Defacement

Officers discovered graffiti “tags” at several St. Charles businesses and city property in the eastern corridor. Graffiti was discovered on newspaper vending machines and utility boxes. Photographs were taken and entered into a database.

FRIDAY, JUNE 22

Burglary

A St. Charles man called police to report he was robbed of alcohol.

According to police the man said his overhead garage door was left open for a period of time, and 64 cans and bottles of beer were taken from a refrigerator in his garage.

Officers told the owner of the alcohol there had been several cases of vandalism reported in St. Charles that same day, including brass lamps at the end of a driveway on Stonhedge Road and broken flower pots on Fulton Avenue and speculated that his beer may have been stolen by the same perpetrators.
