Police Blotter: Officers Investigate Reports of Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the St. Charles Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

St. Charles police handled two interesting cases of theft last week – one old fashioned and one becoming more popular every day.

Theft

On April 13 police responded to a victim complaint at Wal Mart that a wallet and credit cards were stolen from the shopping cart the victim was using. According to the police report the victim cancelled the cards later that day, but discovered that some transactions had occurred between the time the theft was discovered and the time the cards were cancelled. According to the report over $600 was charged to one card at a Target in Elgin. There was an attempt to use one card for an $800 purchase at Best Buy, but when the store cashier asked for additional identification the perpetrators left without completing the transaction.
