Police Blotter: Officers Investigate Reports of Theft

THURSDAY, JUNE 14

Theft of Labor/ Services

St. Charles police investigated a report of two customers who allegedly skipped out of paying their $28.36 bill at IHOP. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Motor Vehicle Theft

A semi-tractor was stolen from Ryder Transportation after it was left there by the driver, according to St. Charles police reports. The driver said he left his rig at the company yard between shifts. It was not there when he returned.

The rig, valued at $75,000, has apparently been stolen before from the same yard, but always returned, the driver told police. The driver told St. Charles officers that officers in Bolingbrook have observed the rig being used to haul equipment from a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Later that day officers observed the vehicle being returned, but the driver fled before he could be reached. K-9 units were brought in to track the driver, but attempts were unsuccessful. A coffee cup left in the cab is being checked for fingerprints, according to the report.

The case remains under investigation.

TUESDAY, JUNE 12

Theft Under $500

A driver filled a car with $37.85 in gasoline from the Go-Tane Mobil, 1023 W. Main St. and fled before paying.

SATURDAY, MAY 12

Theft Over $500

St. Charles police received a call June 12 regarding copper cable stolen from Pheasant Run last month. The cable, valued at $840, was owned by Sunbelt Rentals in Aurora, who leased the equipment for an exposition at the St. Charles resort.

Police are investigating.
