Police Blotter: Officers Respond to Battery, Damage to Property Calls

The following arrest information was supplied by the St. Charles Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Battery

A Saint Charles woman was taken into custody for battery after an argument over a broken toy at a garage sale.

According to St. Charles police reports, Rachel A. Hegele, 1556 Allen Lane, and her daughter visited a garage sale on Longmeadow Circle. Hegele, according to the report argued with the property owner over a toy her 2-year-old daughter allegedly broke. During the argument Hegele struck the property owner with her elbow, the report said.

Someone at the garage sale called 911 while Hegele exchanged heated words with the resident.

Hegele and her daughter left the garage sale, but witnesses took down her license plate number.

Although he was not harmed by the elbow strike, the resident told police he wished to press charges.

Officers ran the license plate number given to them by residents and traced it to Hegele. They went to her home and had her drive herself to police headquarters where she was placed under arrest for battery.

 

Damage to Property

Someone poured water in the fuel tank of a vehicle owned by Lazarus House shelter, according to St. Charles police report.

After the vehicle stopped running it was taken to a mechanic who discovered approximately two-gallons of water mixed with the gasoline.

According to the police report a representative of the Lazarus House speculated someone used the garden hose, which was located near the parked car, to fill the tank with water.
