Police Blotter: Paraphernalia and a Bungled Burgle

Possession of a controlled substance and the arrest of two desperados make up some of the latest police activity, courtesy of the Batavia PD.


Eric G. Decker, 47, of Naperville, was charged May 27 with reckless driving, speeding more than 40 miles over the limit, and driving without insurance at Kirk Road and Pine Street. Reports say Decker posted bond and was released with a court date of July 10.


Prudence Montenegro, 26, and Martin Montenegro, 23, both of West Chicago, were charged with burglary on May 27 in the 1000 block of Kingsland Drive. Police reports say both were taken to Kane County Jail. 


Dustin W. Sronce, 21, of the 700 block of Blaine Street, was arrested May 27 for possession of more than 10 but less than 30 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police reports say Sronce was released with a court date on July 3. 


Jason M. Ortiz, 28, of Aurora, was charged on May 28 with home invasion and domestic battery in the 1300 block of E. Wilson Street. Police reports indicate Ortiz was also cited for unlawful restraint, criminal trespass, and battery. Reports say Ortiz was taken to the Kane County Jail.

Is driving without insurance on Main St. a crime?

Well, "local guy," driving without insurance on any street in Illinois is illegal. In any case, I have retained the use of commas in a series and corrected the actual location of arrest to Kirk and Pine.
