Police Blotter: Theft, Burglary Reports in St. Charles

St. Charles police reports, July 10-16

SUNDAY, JULY 8

Theft Under $500

A resident of the 1100 block of Dean Street called police to report her bicycle was stolen and replaced with a smaller and less valuable mountain bike, according to St. Charles police. The bicycle that was left behind was processed for prints and the serial number was entered into the system, but no leads were forthcoming, according to the report.

Burglary from a Motor Vehicle

After spending a few hours at a restaurant, a woman returned to her car to discover some items had been taken.

According to St. Charles Police, a woman living in the 700 block of Prairie Street, parked her car in the lot of the restaurant, but left the windows down and the car unlocked. In the back seat she had a second purse covered by a sweater. After spending approximately two hours in the restaurant she returned to her car and discovered the purse was missing.

Items reported taken, including the purse valued at $150, were a digital camera valued at $150, a diamond ring valued at $550, $100 in cash and makeup valued at $100.

Police are investigating.

SUNDAY, JUNE 10

Theft Under $500

A man living in the 1700 block of Walnut Street reported two bicycles were stolen from his residence. He told officers that both bicycles were in “beat up shape” and had sat outside for the past six months without being disturbed. Officers canvassed the area but failed to find the bicycles. Although the bicycles were reported to police in June, the report was entered into the department blotter this week.
