Police Bust Three for DUI, Cite Dozens as Part of Statewide Crackdown

St. Charles officers issue more than 50 citations or warnings to motorists during two-week enforcement period.

Police arrested three people for driving under the influence and issued more than 30 citations during a two-week traffic safety effort over the Labor Day holiday.

An additional 20 warnings for various violations also were issued for the period that ended Sept. 6, according to police.

St. Charles police joined with departments in the statewide effort. More than that $1 million in additional police activity, in addition to paid advertising, accompanied the initiative.

The enforcement period was funded by federal funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety.
