An Orland Park woman has been charged with endangering the life or health of a child, and disorderly conduct over an incident in which she fell asleep while intoxicated on a couch with her 5-year-old son in a pool area at a local resort on Aug. 17, 2013.
Kelly A. Mrozek, 45, of the 11000 block of Karen Drive, Orland Park, was charged at 12:22 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, less than an hour after St. Charles police were called 52 minutes earlier to Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St.
Police said Mrozek was a guest at Pheasant Run and that she was intoxicated, prompting officers to take her son into protective custody. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified as well, police said. Police said Morzek was taken into custody after she began yelling in Pheasant Run’s front lobby as officers were conducting their follow-up investigation.
According to police, Mrozek was transported to the St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Drive, and the juvenile was turned over to a family member.
Police Blotter information is provided by the St. Charles Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.
