St. Charles Burglary Suspect Faces New Charge

Police said a suspicious neighbor followed the man into the home, whose owners were away at the time.

A St. Charles man who was arrested in January after a home burglary on Millburn Court has been charged with a second count of burglary in an incident that occurred just days before.

Carl Dean Newsome, 39, of the 1600 block of Indiana Street, was charged with a second county of residential burglary at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, 37W777 Route 38, police said.

Police said the latest charge was pertaining to the Jan. 26, 2013 burglary in which an individual authorities say was Newsome entered a home on the 400 block of South 13th Street while residents were home. When confronted by the residents, the individual left the home with a wallet that had been left on a ledge near the door. The wallet contained between $475 and $500, plus a driver’s license and credit and debit cards.

Days later, a resident followed a man into the Millburn Court home of his vacationing neighbor, surprising the man, who later was identified as Newsome and arrested a felony count of burglary.
