St. Charles Man Charged After 15 Pounds of Cannabis Seized

Sheriff's deputies arrest Frank Brunke, confiscate $15,000 in low-grade cannabis and $1,600 in cash.

A St. Charles man faces felony drug charges after Kane County sheriff’s officers and St. Charles police descended upon 216 Birch Ave., where they seized $15,000 in low-grade cannabis and $1,600 in cash.

Frank Brunke, 39, is charged with possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver and possession of cannabis, according to Kane County Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Gengler, who said both counts are felonies.

Gengler said detectives from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 216 Birch Ave., St Charles, where they seized the cannabis and cash.

Gengler characterized the arrest as an isolated incident and not part of a broader investigation.

While he would not discuss details about how investigators developed the information leading to the search warrant and arrest, he did say sheriff’s officers noted during the execution of the search warrant that a lot of neighbors gathered around the area to watch the search and arrest unfold.

“They were very happy we were there doing our job,” Gengler said. “Obviously they were aware something was going on and were concerned about it.

“Anytime you have people telling our officers thank you after something like that, you know they are glad it’s over,” he said.
