St. Charles Police Arrest 3, Ticket 27 in Memorial Day Effort

Two week efforted concluded on Monday, police said.

The St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Drive, arrested three people and issued 27 tickets during a two-week enforcement period in connection with a traffic safety campaign that concluded Monday, May 27, 2013.

A St. Charles Police Department release states that St. Charles police made three drunken-driving arrests; and issued eight citations for safety belts, two citations for suspended/revoked license, four citations for uninsured motorists, four citations for speeding, and nine citations for other violations, as well as 30 warnings for various violations.

The release states that the safety campaign is done in cooperation with, and funded by, the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of a statewide program to reduce the number of traffic fatalities.

The department asks residents to drive safely.
