St. Charles Police Arrest 3, Ticket 55 During Safety Campaign

Two-week traffic safety campaign concluded Nov. 25.

The St. Charles Police Department on Nov. 25, 2012, completed a two-week enforcement period in connection with a traffic safety campaign that resulted in two arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol, a warrant arrest, and citations issued for 37 safety belt violation, seven for speeding, 11 for other violations, as well as 34 warnings for various violations.

The department, in a release issued Friday, said the safety campaign was done in cooperation with, and funded by, the Illinois Department of Transportation. This initiative, which included the heavy travel period during the week of Thanksgiving, is part of a statewide program to reduce the number of traffic fatalities.

The police department asks residents to please drive carefully and help remove impaired drivers from our streets.
