St. Charles Police Blotter: Assault, Handicapped Parking Draws 3 Citations

St. Charles police reports from Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 through Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013.

TUESDAY, NOV. 19, 2013


Assault


Steven Anthony Adkins, 35, of the 00-99 block of Pheasant Run Road, Joliet, was charged at 10:08 a.m. Don McCue Chevrolet, 2015 E. Main St., on a charge of simple assault. Police were called to the business on a 9:46 a.m. report of a disturbance. Adkins, a customer, reportedly came around the counter and charged an employee, threatening to hurt him. Adkins posted $120 cash bond and was released pending a Dec. 19, 2013 court appearance.


Pieces Stolen from Vehicle’s Bumper


A South Elgin woman reported at 1:54 p.m. that someone had removed two small lights from the bumper of her 2008 Cadillac STS while it was parked in Lot D at Charlestowne Mall. Police later learned the missing items were not lights by plastic covers over holes where a headlight accessory could be mounted. The value of the two missing items was estimated at $124.

Vehicle Damage to Mailbox, Yard


A resident of the 300 block of Jewel Avenue reported at 2:27 p.m. that between 5:01 and 7:29 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, someone drove a vehicle through his front yard, knocking down his mailbox.


Protection Order, Bail Bond Violations


David Scott Gronow, 47, of the 3N900 block of Walt Whitman Road, was charged at 7:10 p.m. at Centennial Counseling Center, 1120 E. Main St., with violating a protection order, and violation of bail bond after police were called about a protection order violation. Gronow was transported to the Kane County Jail pending a court appearance.

Handicapped Parking Draws 3 Citations


A man who parked his grandmother’s van in a handicapped parking spot at Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road, was cited with illegal use of a handicapped placard for parking the van in a handicapped parking spot. Police also learned that his driver’s license had been suspended a day earlier, so he was charged with that, and with a county of no insurance. Juan A. Hernandez, 22, of the 100 block of Quail Run Court, Carol Stream, posted $150 cash bond on the three charges and was released pending a Dec. 19, 2013 court appearance.


MONDAY, NOV. 18, 2013


Arson to a Dumpster


Burry Food Service, 1750 E. Main St., Suite 160, reported at 7:57 a.m. that someone had started a fire inside a Dumpster leased from Waste Management. The St. Charles Fire Department had responded to a Dumpster fire at that address at 7:43 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15. Damage to the Dumpster was estimated at $700.


Driver Charged in Accident


Apolonio Cuatzo-Velazquez, 23, of the 1900 block of Wessel Court, was charged at 4:26 p.m. on the 2000 block of West Main Street with failure to yield while turning left, no driver’s license, and no insurance after an accident. Police said there were no injuries. Cuatzo-Velazquez posted $200 cash bond and was released pending a Dec. 19, 2013 court appearance.
