St. Charles Police Blotter: Graffiti and Thefts Reported

Criminal Defacement-Less Than $300

Police were called at 10:21 a.m. to 13th and Rita avenues on a report of graffiti to a fence at the northeast corner of the intersection. According to the report, someone had spray-painted a black swastika about 6 inches in size on the fence.

Criminal Defacement-Less Than $300

A St. Charles police officer reported at 11:24 a.m. discovering someone using black spray paint had defaced a “No Parking” sign on the 800 block of Munhall Avenue and spray-painted a swastika onto a road weight limit sign at Munhall and Andover avenues. Further investigation revealed another swastika painted on a stop sign at South Tyler Road and Independence Avenue.

Retail Theft

, reported at 11:16 p.m. the theft of a bottle of Jose Cuervo Watermelon Margarita valued at $12.28.

Sign Stolen

Wool & Company, 107 W. Main St., Suite A, reported at 1:53 p.m. the theft of a folding, 3- by 2-foot self-standing sign valued at $150 from the business’s rear courtyard area between March 23 and March 24.

Retail Theft

David A. Sykes, 21, of the 800 block of Russell Road, DeKalb, was charged at 4:30 p.m. at 37W765 Lincoln Highway with retail theft. He was being held in the Kane County Jail pending a court appearance.
