St. Charles Police Blotter: Retail Thefts, Property Damaged

St. Charles police reports from Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, through Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 7, 2012

Retail Theft

David Michael Divito, 47, of the 3N400 block of Norris Avenue, West Chicago, was charged with retail theft at 3:33 p.m. at Walmart, 150 Smith Road. Police said the store reported that Divito, an employee, has been stealing small food items since August. The items had a combined value of $77.03.

Warrant Arrest

Benjamin Richard Hoover, 21, of the 1700 block of Fairfield Avenue, Lombard, was arrested at 10:50 p.m. at South Tyler Road and Production Drive on an Oakbrook warrant for failure to appear on a speeding charge. He posted $250 bond and was released pending an Oct. 9 appearance in court.

Criminal Damage to Property

A 42-year-old woman of the 1100 block of South 12th Avenue reported at 5:32 a.m. that someone had smashed the rear window of her 2006 Honda Pilot while it was parked at her home. Damage was estimated at $300.

Criminal Damage to Property

A 74-year-old man living on the 2000 block of Waverly Circle reported at 9:27 a.m. someone attempted to pry open the rear hatch of his 2005 Toyota Highlander while it was parked on the fourth level of the 1st Street parking garage between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1.

Vehicle Burglary

A 69-year-old Geneva man reported at 12:52 p.m. someone stole a bag filled with sterling silver flatware from his 1998 Dodge Ram truck while it was parked in the 0-99 block of South 2nd Avenue between 1 and 2 p.m. Sept. 4. The flatware was valued at $400.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 5, 2012

Retail Theft

Julie Beth Welch, 48, of the 6N800 block of Greenlawn Ave., and Ami Nicole Hampel, 29, of the 400 block of Cedar Avenue, were each charged with retail theft at 7:30 p.m. at Walmart, 150 Smith Road. According to police, Welch took several dog-care products and a hair style bottle with a combined value of $69.03, and Hampel two hair style bottles and a back sack with a combined value of $12.90.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 1, 2012

Fighting Prohibited

Thomas R.B. Grimston, 21, of the 1400 block of Thoria Road, Batavia, Benjamin H. Johnston, 21, of the 700 block of Cleveland Avenue, Batavia, were cited with fighting at 2:13 a.m. at West Main and 3rd streets. Police said both men appeared intoxicated.
